Abdou Kader Mangane (born 23 March 1983) is a Senegalese football player. He currently plays for French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais F.C..

Club Career

Mangane bought € 200 000 by BSC Young Boys Berne, he was transferred to Lens for five seasons and a check for an estimated 3 million euros, or 15 times. After his successful season at Lens, he was coveted by several French and European clubs such as Olympique de Marseille, Rennes and Everton. When he announced he wanted to stay at Lens to help the club back in Ligue 1, he moved finally to Stade Rennes (with Lucien Aubey) for a sum estimated at nearly $ 5 million. The duration of the contract is 4 years 1. Kader Mangane and knows his fourth club in just over a year. In Rennes, Mangane needed in central defense alongside Petter Hansson. On January 14, 2010, Kader Mangane extends contract with Stade Rennes until 2013. He obtained French nationality May 16, 2011.[1]

Controversy

On March 21, 2009 during a Ligue One game against Valenciennes he seriously injured opposing midfieler Jonathan Lacourt after a savage challenge resulted in a double fracture of the tibia and fibula. Despite calls from the French media and football fans across the world alike for Mangane to be banned for life, he was only suspended until 1 June 2009, leading to a collective outrage. He has been booed in every ground in France since and has stated that 'he lives with guilt every day of his life'. Lacourt has yet to play football again and is currently unattached having been released by Valenciennes in July 2011.
